Palo Alto Junior Museum and Zoo

The Palo Alto Junior Museum and Zoo provides children with an array of learning experiences to engage their minds, increase their critical thinking skills, and help develop their intuition so they can make better sense of the world around them. Offerings include an interactive museum exhibit, a natural habitat zoo and educational programs.

The Junior Museum and Zoo is home to more than fifty exotic and native animals, of which at least half are brought into classrooms as part of its science outreach program with local schools. Some of the animals include bobcats, raccoons, jungle bats, hedgehogs, ferrets, snakes, and an owl.

    05/01/10- Ongoing	Bobcat Ridge Palo Alto Junior Museum and Zoo Bobcat Ridge Presented by Palo Alto Junior Museum and Zoo at Palo Alto Junior Museum and Zoo May 1, 2010 - Ongoing Our beloved bobcats, Tule and Rufus, are getting a new home! The Zoo’s current aviary will be transformed into a big cat haven that more closely mirror’s the animals’ natural habitat. Structural and exhibit enhancements will also be designed to create a better visitor experience.     04/25/09- Ongoing	Clean Green Energy Machines Palo Alto Junior Museum and Zoo Clean Green Energy Machines Presented by Palo Alto Junior Museum and Zoo at Palo Alto Junior Museum and Zoo April 25, 2009 - Ongoing This new exhibit introduces young children and their families to different kinds of renewal energy and the science behind them. Our hands-on machines help visitors investigate wind, solar, water and kid-power, creating connections between the choices we make and the health of our environment. Clean Green Energy Machines encourages us all to work together to make a difference—a timely topic that is guaranteed to generate a lot of energy!
    01/01/07- Ongoing	Creek Habitat Palo Alto Junior Museum and Zoo Creek Habitat Presented by Palo Alto Junior Museum and Zoo at Palo Alto Junior Museum and Zoo January 1, 2007 - Ongoing Fifteen cubic meters of San Francisquito Creek display a cross-sectional view of this last remaining natural creek running through Palo Alto. Careful attention was paid to include native plants, accurate rock sizes and five varieties of fish, crayfish and other water creatures for a realistic portrayal of the creek in its natural habitat.
