City of San Mateo

San Mateo is one of the larger suburbs on the San Francisco Peninsula, located between Burlingame to the north, Foster City to the East, and Belmont to the south. The San Mateo Performing Arts Center, located on San Mateo High School, is one of the largest theatres on the Peninsula outside of San Francisco. The College of San Mateo is also located there and is home to radio station KCSM. The San Mateo Arboretum in Central Park is of interest. One of its sister cities is Toyonaka, Japan, which the Japanese garden in Central Park was made to commemorate.

    Bicycle Sundays Bicycle Sundays Presented by City of San Mateo December 6, 2009 - Ongoing On Sundays, Cañada Road is closed between the Filoli entrance and Highway 92 allowing for non-motorized activities including jogging, bicycling, hiking, roller-skating, and walking (Strollers are welcome, but no ball/frisbee activity allowed). Cañada Road between Edgewood Road to the Filoli entrance will remain open to vehicles. Restrooms are available at nearby Edgewood Park and Preserve, approximately 1.2 miles away, as well at the Pulgas Water Temple and Filoli...
