Hot Kugel - Klezmer Music

Hot Kugel has been twanging around and blowing it out now for over a decade. Their music is based in traditional Klezmer with pinches of old time jazz, ethnic folk, theater and American popular music, simmered gently with the blues, rock and reggae, a dash of psychedelia, cooking for ten years and serving up the twanging lingering tones of Grassabilly, African, Celtic, Hawaiian, spiced with the seemingly eternal and right at this moment incarnations of Indian, and Middle Eastern melody. The sound is a tasteful integration of traditional Yiddish, Israeli, Ladino, New York, Silicon Valley and other world music.
Suska Varda sings in Yiddish, Hebrew, Ladino, and "whah whah" scat, while flat picking her twango and/or strumming the guitar she has owned since tenth grade. Mordecai plays an assortment of items that make sounds, as well as his gorgeous antique cornet, guitar and melodeon. Hot Kugel is sizzling, savory and satisfying entertainment.
