Samba Ngo is a master of sebene, the characteristic element of Congolese music that enchants and entrances listeners with driving layers of guitar. Ngo toured Africa and Europe for 16 years, then began his solo career after moving to California in 1986. He has recorded 17 albums. His most recent, Ndoto, showcases his kalimba-like guitar style and expressive voice. Larry Kelp, host of KPFA’s “Sing Out” says Ngo “delivers his songs in a softly seductive voice that convinces the listener everything is going to work out.”
