Chuck McCabe CD Release Party
February 17, 2005
Add Review/CommentFor years, Chuck McCabe has shown his wit and wisdom through his well-crafted story songs. Along the way, he’s always shown his audiences little glimpses into his personal story. We know about the uncle who gave him his first smoke — and the unpleasant result. We know he’s dated the Smothers Brothers’ sister. And we know he misses his mustache. But in Sweet Reunion, Chuck welcomes us inside as one of the McCabe clan. This is a story album, meant to be savored like a classic movie. He brings the characters alive as only a true master story teller can. With help from world-class players including Norton Buffalo, Rob Ickes, Myron Dove, Joe Weed, McCabe weaves magic through 14 tracks interlaced with stories, banjo picking, gospel choirs and that unmistakable McCabe wit. A former staff-writer for ABC and a touring musician for more than 20 years, Chuck has been a showcase performer or competition finalist at many of the major folk festivals across the country and was the winner of the Woody Guthrie Songwriting Competition in 2001. Joining Chuck to celebrate the release of Sweet Reunion will be Scott Bailey on guitar and mandloin, Steve Kritzer on guitar, mandolin and harmony vocals, Verne Schnaidt on keyboard, Rolf Wyer on bass and harmony vocals and Tim Siefert on drums.
